My name is Andrea Aliseda and I’m a Mexican-American freelance writer originally from the border of Tijuana, B.C. and San Diego, CA currently living in Brooklyn, NY. My work seeks to unearth and understand Mexican-American culture and identity through personal essays, dishes, ingredients, and recipes with a vegan lens. When I’m not writing about food, I write fiction and poetry. Otherwise, you can find me in the kitchen (cooking, or eating), listening to podcasts, tending to my garden, or hanging with my pup.

This newsletter is an exploration of the many nuances that being a vegan Mexican immigrant living in the United States through food, its history, and its future brings; while also allowing space to muse on meditations of the moment, and share vegan recipes that celebrate produce and creativity.

I have been published in Whetstone, Bon Appétit, Food Network, Edible Manhattan, and more. But most excitingly, I’m currently working on my first plant-based Mexican cookbook as part of a series with Mehreen Karim, Srishti Jain, and Ria Elciario, for Artisan Books.

Currently, writing and recipe development are my life’s work, and for now this newsletter is free ninety-nine. If you feel inclined to leave a little tip, my venmo is @andreaaliseda, otherwise relax, enjoy, and please share this with your friends!

As always, thank you for being here, reading, and supporting my work.
